Top Ten Tuesday #39: All About Audio freebie

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. This week’s topic is All About Audio freebie --  aka top 10 audiobooks you should listen to, 10 books I want to listen to on audio, 10 bands you should check out, 10 podcasts you should be listening to, 10 of my all time favorite albums, 10 songs I love, really whatever you can come up with.

Tina's Top 10 Audiobook & Narrator Recommendation

1. Harry Potter series - By far, without a doubt, Jim Dale's narration is the best. He created 134 different character voices and won 2 Grammy awards for Harry Potter <3.

2. Daughter of Smoke and Bone series - Khristine Hvam has such a sweet melodic voice. I've been listening to her since this series and I will continue to listen to every book she narrates simply because she takes me to a happier place.

3. Empire of Storms - this is by far, the best narration Elizabeth Evans has done to date. She lost the pretentious spiteful arrogance in her voice and gave the best performance. It was soothing and gave the read such a pleasant flow. I highly commend her performance.

4. The Raven Boys series - Will Patton's voice is like a breath of fresh air. He transports me into a magical world of make believe.

5. Mistborn series - Michael Kramer makes everything written by Brandon Sanderson powerful.

6. Grisha series - Lauren Fortgang brought The Darkling to life and I enjoyed every minute of the Grisha adventures.

7. Divergent series - soothing and fun, Emma Galvin made this series a very enjoyable read.

8. Grey - surprisingly Grey is actually really good because of Zachary Webber's narration; I would otherwise dismiss this book. Hmm I should look into what else he's read.

9. Shiver series - I enjoyed both the narration of David LeDoux's sexy masculine voice and Jenna Lamia's innocent wonder. They helped me enjoy Maggie's beautiful "book of poetry" that much more.

10. Ender's Game - my first audiobook. I remember learning about the world of audiobooks from my Intro to Business professor. He was nearing blind and that day made me dive heavily into the world of narrations. Opened my mind and forever changed my life.

What is your favorite audiobook?

  1. I'm really not one for audiobooks but if I had to choose one to listen to, it would surely be Harry <3 :D

  2. While I haven't listened to all the books on your list, I have to agree with all the ones I have listened to! I love audiobooks, and the right narrator can make a book that much better.

    1. Yes there are some narrations that make me cringe. The performance really brings out the best parts of the book.

  3. Empire of Storms seems like it would be a good audio read, and Divergent too. I never finished Allegiant, maybe I should get it on audio and give it a try.

  4. I'm not sure why in the world I never thought to listen Harry Potter on audio! I prefer my audio selections to be rereads, so it seems like the perfect series to get on Audible!

  5. HP & Jim Dale rule! / I haven't listened to DoSaB, but I have several series read by Khristine and really like her voice. / I don't like Will Patton's female voices but otherwise thought his narration was perfect for the tone of the book.

    1. Yes yes I agree too! They make the story flow so well. Well I thought Patton did Blue's voice ok. But I really enjoyed Ronan and the others :)

  6. A couple friends who listen to audiobooks also suggested HP, so I may have to give them a try! I forgot about the Daughter of Smoke and Bone series! Book one was really good, but my library doesn't have the rest of the series in audio. :( Thanks for stopping by my TTT! (Also, wrong account used above :( )
