Author: Rhys Ford

There are eight million stories in the City of Angels but only one man can stumble upon the body of a former client while being chased by a pair of Dobermans and a deranged psycho dressed as a sheep.

That man is Cole McGinnis.

Since his last life-threatening case years ago, McGinnis has married the love of his life, Jae-Min Kim, consulted for the LAPD, and investigated cases as a private detective for hire. Yet nothing could have prepared him for the shocking discovery of a dead, grandmotherly woman at his feet and the cascade of murders that follows, even if he should have been used to it by now.

Now he’s back in the dark world of murder and intrigue where every bullet appears to have his name on it and every answer he digs up seems to only create more questions. Hired by the dead woman’s husband, McGinnis has to figure out who is behind the crime spree. As if the twisted case of a murdered grandmother isn’t complicated enough, Death is knocking on his door, and each time it opens, Death is wearing a new face, leaving McGinnis to wonder who he can actually trust.

Title: Dark and Deepest Red
Author: Anna-Marie McLemore
Expected Publication: January 14th 2020
Genres: Fantasy, Young Adult, Retellings, LGBT

Summer, 1518. A strange sickness sweeps through Strasbourg: women dance in the streets, some until they fall down dead. As rumors of witchcraft spread, suspicion turns toward Lavinia and her family, and Lavinia may have to do the unimaginable to save herself and everyone she loves.

Five centuries later, a pair of red shoes seal to Rosella Oliva’s feet, making her dance uncontrollably. They draw her toward a boy who knows the dancing fever’s history better than anyone: Emil, whose family was blamed for the fever five hundred years ago. But there’s more to what happened in 1518 than even Emil knows, and discovering the truth may decide whether Rosella survives the red shoes.

With McLemore's signature lush prose, Dark and Deepest Red pairs the forbidding magic of a fairy tale with a modern story of passion and betrayal.

Happy New Year!! Shon's 2020 Goals & Resolutions

HELLO, 2020!!

The new year has officially arrived!!

Admittedly, 2019 was not the best year for me.  It was a great year for reading but, not such a great year for blogging or much of anything else, really.  I feel like I spent most of the year in the biggest funk ever, but, I've been working on it, and I feel like things are getting better.

That being said, I have a few goals and resolutions, (both bookish and non-bookish), that I'd like to work on it 2020, and if things go as I hope they will, 2020 should a really great year.

2020 Bookish Goals

Read 150 Books
That 50 more book then last year goal.  I think I can do it, I'm finally reading book I wan to read and not what everyone else is reading.

More Catching up on Series
I know I say this every year.  I have a few different series that I had read on and off over the years, and I would like to finished 5 this year.

Expand My Horizons
I want to read at least 5 fantasy books and 3 non-fiction books this year.

Book Unhaul
I'm just ready to clean out my life, clean out my shelves.  There are some books that I'm definitely never going to read again.

Other 2020 Goals

Get back into Blogging
I have been the worst blogger lately, but I seriously just feel like I've had no energy to blog.

Watch More Movies and TV Shows

I've watched some really awesome movies and shows recently, and that makes me want to see more!  This also includes more book-to-movie adaptations, because I really want to do a feature for them on the blog this year!!

2020 Resolutions

Make healthier choices!

Keep up with Social Media!

Save Money!

That's my list of goals and resolutions for this year!  What are some of yours??

xoxo,
Shon

Title: Chosen
Author: Kiersten White
Expected Publication: January 9th 2020
Genres: Fantasy, Young Adult

“Will get Buffy fans up in their feels.” —Entertainment Weekly on Slayer

Nina continues to learn how to use her slayer powers against enemies old and new in this second novel in the New York Times bestselling series from Kiersten White, set in the world of Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

Now that Nina has turned the Watcher’s Castle into a utopia for hurt and lonely demons, she’s still waiting for the utopia part to kick in. With her sister Artemis gone and only a few people remaining at the castle—including her still-distant mother—Nina has her hands full. Plus, though she gained back her Slayer powers from Leo, they’re not feeling quite right after being held by the seriously evil succubus Eve, a.k.a. fake Watcher’s Council member and Leo’s mom.

And while Nina is dealing with the darkness inside, there’s also a new threat on the outside, portended by an odd triangle symbol that seems to be popping up everywhere, in connection with Sean’s demon drug ring as well as someone a bit closer to home. Because one near-apocalypse just isn’t enough, right?

The darkness always finds you. And once again, it’s coming for the Slayer.
