"Waiting On" Wednesday / Can't-Wait Wednesday #36: Because You Love to Hate Me: 13 Tales of Villainy

Can't-Wait Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted at Wishful Endings, to spotlight and discuss the books we're excited about that we have yet to read. Generally they're books that have yet to be released. It's based on Waiting on Wednesday, hosted by the fabulous Jill at Breaking The Spine.

Title: Because You Love to Hate Me: 13 Tales of Villainy
Author: Ameriie
Publisher: Bloomsbury

Expected publication: July 11, 2017
Genres: Young Adult, Fantasy, Short Stories, Anthologies

Leave it to the heroes to save the world--villains just want to rule the world.

In this unique YA anthology, thirteen acclaimed, bestselling authors team up with thirteen influential BookTubers to reimagine fairy tales from the oft-misunderstood villains' points of view.

These fractured, unconventional spins on classics like "Medusa," Sherlock Holmes, and "Jack and the Beanstalk" provide a behind-the-curtain look at villains' acts of vengeance, defiance, and rage--and the pain, heartbreak, and sorrow that spurned them on. No fairy tale will ever seem quite the same again!

Featuring writing from . . .

Authors: Renée Ahdieh, Ameriie, Soman Chainani, Susan Dennard, Sarah Enni, Marissa Meyer, Cindy Pon, Victoria Schwab, Samantha Shannon, Adam Silvera, Andrew Smith, April Genevieve Tucholke, and Nicola Yoon

BookTubers: Benjamin Alderson (Benjaminoftomes), Sasha Alsberg (abookutopia), Whitney Atkinson (WhittyNovels), Tina Burke (ChristinaReadsYA blog and TheLushables), Catriona Feeney (LittleBookOwl), Jesse George (JessetheReader), Zoë Herdt (readbyzoe), Samantha Lane (Thoughts on Tomes), Sophia Lee (thebookbasement), Raeleen Lemay (padfootandprongs07), Regan Perusse (PeruseProject), Christine Riccio (polandbananasBOOKS), and Steph Sinclair & Kat Kennedy (Cuddlebuggery blog and channel).

  3. I am not usually a fan of anthologies, but I do like fractured fairy tales! It looks like a good line-up of authors as well.

  8. I'm a bit leery of anthologies most of the time though I have a pile of them that I grabbed free. It just seems to take me longer to read the things! Great cover though...

  9. This is one I'm curious about. I'm so not a villain girl (love my heroes), but because of the author list, and the fact that I did enjoy the Christmas anthology, I *might* pick this one up. :)
